I am a proud Cantabrian who began my career working as a civil engineer in Christchurch, and then in Wellington. Following this, I completed a Masters in Business Administration at Canterbury University. I then worked for several organisations in Christchurch and in Sydney, Australia, undertaking corporate planning and organisational improvement. After five years of strategic planning in a large organisation in Sydney, I felt the call to full-time ministry.

I have been on staff at Riccarton Community Church since 2005 and the senior leader since 2008. I love leading a passionate and experienced team in a church environment that is outward looking.

I have been married for over 30 years to Catherine, who is a Professor of Medicine and a very busy physician. My three children have now all left home and are studying in Christchurch and Dunedin. It’s a joy to see them keeping on growing in their faith in Jesus.

After 18 years in Ministry, one of my favourite things is seeing people flourish in the roles God has given them. Ministry can be joyous, but it can also be very challenging. We all need people who can listen well, cheer us on and if needed offer godly advice. I have so appreciated those in my life who have believed in me and offered a listening ear. One of my greatest privileges is coaching some incredible church leaders in several African countries. I love having the opportunity to help coach others and see them navigate life and ministry well.
